RANDLEMAN — Carson Richard Cox, 79, of Randleman died Wednesday, March 22, 2017, at Randolph Health, Asheboro.

Mr. Cox was born Jan. 7, 1938, the son of John Adams Cox and Winona Beatrice Peters Cox. Carson was a native of Scott County, Va., and a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He retired from Distron Distribution of Greensboro after over 30 years of service, where he was an award-winning truck driver.

In addition to his parents, Carson was preceded in death by two brothers, Claude and Billy Cox.

He is survived by wife, Mary Ann Adkins Cox; daughter, Angela McGill and husband Paul of Randleman; son, Scott Richard Cox and wife Tammy of Randleman; grandchildren, Amanda Gonzalez of Eagle Springs, Holly Smith of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Tracey McGill of Randleman; great-grandchildren, Landon Card of Asheboro, Faith Smith of Panama City Beach, Fla., and Eleanor Smith of Panama City Beach, Fla.; three sisters, Eileen Gibson of Kingsport, Tenn., Lois Wolf of Kingsport, Tenn., and Carol Quillen of Fayetteville, N.C.; and one brother, Larry Cox of Kingsport, Tenn.

The family will receive friends Friday, March 31, from 6-8 p.m. at Pugh Funeral Home, 600 S. Main St., Randleman.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, April 1, at 3 p.m. in the Pugh Funeral Home chapel, 600 S. Main St., Randleman, N.C., with the Rev. Charles Stines officiating.

Inurnment will follow at New Hope Memorial Gardens, Asheboro, with military rites provided by the Randolph County Honor Guard.
